The Library is filled with people during the summer months because of the Summer Reading Celebration.
Alison Housnshell works on the 2nd floor of the Laramie County Library as the Youth Services Assistant. This is where all of the books for kids are and there are fun games, and so much more in this space, for families to enjoy. With kids not being in school, the library becomes a great place for folks to come together and learn.
The Summer Reading Celebration encourages this and is structured to allow for families to engage in the program. If you are interested in signing up for the program you can do it online HERE. Currently, the Library is closed through at least June 1, so to participate you can still take part by doing it online. This is to ensure that everyone remains safe and healthy. Upon completing the program you can pick out a book from the library that is yours to keep!
The Lenhart sisters have participated in the Summer Reading Celebration. They shared that they like the program because they are rewarded for reading! They are not always the best readers but they know if they take the time to follow the program they will get 5 prizes throughout the summer and it is a perfect motivator for them. As you can see the program is great for all ages and is a way for families to spend time with one another.
The Miller Family said that the Summer Reading Celebration is a great getaway for their kids. They like the story times offered, the video games offered on the computers and love the fact that they have to come into the library to receive their prizes. By picking up their books at the Library they can enjoy story time before bedtime and this is part of their daily routine. The program is a great activity for them and is something they enjoy as a family.
Due to COVID-19 there are changes to the Summer Reading Celebration that will soon be announced. Check the Library’s website for the latest updates.
