Â
Why would you want to live in Cheyenne, WY?Â
I can think of so many reasons! Cheyenne is a great place to live, work, play and raise a family! I moved here 17 years ago from Colorado Springs. The first winter was challenging because I wasn’t used to the weather. Actually every winter can get a little long around here, but the awesomeness of the area and people overcomes the winter wind and cold. I had a person tell me early on that the wind keeps our air clean!
Live –
Cheyenne is an easy place to live. When people come to visit they are shocked that we can get across town in 15 minutes. Kids still walk to and from school. Families play outside. We have a broad selection of shopping and restaurants. People are friendly and say hello.
Work –
Cheyenne has a diverse job market. We have the military with FE Warren Air Force Base, local, state and federal levels of government are located here, Sierra Trading Post, Lowes and Walmart distribution centers, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, VA Hospital, Microsoft Super Computer, Magpul and many small businesses to name just a few work options. Our area is always looking for hard working, focused, honest, intelligent and kind people to employ.
Play –
Things are happening in Cheyenne. We have arts and music with the Symphony, Civic Center, Little Theater and Fridays on the Plaza to name a few. Sporting events include school activities, Park and Recreation leagues, Cheyenne Stampede Hockey, LCCC our local community college and all University of Wyoming events 45 minutes away. Drive 100 miles and you can attend anything that you want in Denver. For all things outdoors like hiking, biking, camping, and fishing you will find it at Curt Gowdy State Park. Cheyenne is very close to several ski resorts, both Wyoming and Colorado resorts. Of course, I can’t write about playing in Cheyenne without mentioning Cheyenne Frontier Days!
Raise a family –Â
For my family all of the above mentioned items have been important to our enjoyment of living in Cheyenne. Plus I need to add; easily accessible health care, great schools for all ages in Cheyenne, and an active religious life, you’d be able to find the right fit for your family.
