Dave and Gail Liniger began RE/MAX LLC in Denver, Colorado, in 1973.
The expansion started when Dennis Curtin purchased a franchise in Kansas City. Two years after starting the franchise model, they went international with a Canadian Brokerage in Calgary, Alberta. With their expanding brand, they decided to go BIG with the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon production that would be featured in the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It was so well received and grew the awareness of the franchise agency model; they decided to make it their official logo that has turned out to become one of the most recognized global brands.
During the ’80s and the ’90s, the real estate associate count grew every month, which increased overall market share. Now, the RE/MAX franchise is home to more top-rated real estate professionals than any other brand, and their agents close more transactions per agent than any other worldwide agency. As a market leader in North America since the late ’80s, RE/MAX has maintained its position ever since.
This is important to know because their evolutionary methods have provided local owners opportunities beyond their communities, which then helped serve clients at a higher level.
