$50,000 in the month of August is a lofty goal!
Jessica Biggs and Stephanie Prescott asked their fellow Realtors and Associates to join them in supporting the local Friday Food Bags and United Way of Laramie County‘s Community Schools program. The Community Schools program is in the Hebard and Cole Elementary Schools currently. Each Friday the social worker has to decide WHO gets a bag for the weekend. The goal is to raise $50,000 to cover a bag for each student who needs one each week. The bag is not filled with oodles of food, no, it has a few small packages that are often the only thing a child will eat through the weekend and may even share them with siblings or parents, according to the social workers.
With more than 400 Realtors in the Cheyenne MLS the amount of money needed per agent in the month of August is $125. Who’s game? This doesn’t include the company broker matches or donations from real estate affiliates including lenders and title agencies. Great things can happen in our own community when we collaborate on projects like this one. Everyone wins.
I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t want to be the one who has to decide which student gets the bag, so let’s raise the $50,000! Our local Cheyenne Board of Realtors works with Friday Food Bags annually to fulfill community commitments set forth by NAR, the National Association of Realtors. Together we can make a difference!
