Brianne shared so many great facts about early literacy is so important.
Set your children on the path for success by signing them up for the Laramie County Library System’s Summer Reading Celebration. Did you know that 90% of brain growth happens by age five? In fact, if children are reached with high-quality education by age 5, they are 40% less likely to be held back a grade and 70% more likely to graduate high school. This information puts into light why the program at the Library was formed and why we sponsor it for families and children in particular. The Summer Reading Celebration is open to residents of Laramie County and can be done virtually. The program is all about setting up your kids for success because they can continue their reading progress throughout the summer months and be then prepared for the next year of school.
What are your next steps toward accepting the Summer Reading Challenge?
- Visit HERE with a trusted adult to register as a participant.
- Decide if you want to track the number of books read, the number of hours or the number of days
- Start logging your participation in the system
Everyone who signs up to participate will be given the opportunity to be rewarded with prizes and opportunities to win more with a virtual ticketing system for additional drawings. The hope is to encourage everyone to read and consistently during the summer months. We have seen over the years that these opportunities are also a great way to bond as a family and share an activity with one another. Numerous studies indicate that students who don’t read or read infrequently during their summer vacation see their reading abilities stagnate or decline, therefore that is an important motivator too. As a sponsor of this great program, we really hope that you can take advantage of the offerings and have a great time doing it.
