Meet Mariea Turner

Mariea Turner joined us in August with two years of real estate experience and an eagerness to help you with your next real estate transaction. Born and raised in Cheyenne and now raising her own children here, Mariea has an intimate understanding of the community. This understanding provides her with an advantage when helping people buy or sell in Cheyenne. In a Q&A Mairea shared a few things about her and her experience as a real estate agent.

Why did you choose Cheyenne as your home? “My dad was in the military and he ended up retiring here. Since he retired here where I grew up and I like Cheyenne so much, I decided to make this my permanent home!”

Favorite winter activity in Cheyenne? “I don’t like the cold so anything that involves being warm indoors.”

What did you do before real estate? “I worked at a dermatologist clinic.”

Any humorous stories you have from being an agent?  “All I’m going to say is that it’s not a good idea to drink two cups of coffee before having to go show a bunch of rural properties.”

What made you decide to go into real estate? I have always been interested in real estate and wanted to get into it about 13 years ago, but then I got pregnant with my first child so I decided to put that on hold for a little bit. When both of the kids were in school, I decided I had put it on hold long enough and I got my real estate license.  I’m so glad I did because I absolutely love my career and would not want to do anything else!

Tell me about your family. I have two children. My daughter, Bella, who is 12, and my son, Vinny, who is 9. They are amazing kids who love to keep me entertained. There is never a boring moment with those two!

How does being a mother of two make you a better agent?  It makes me a better agent because I want to show my children that you can set goals for yourself and it’s possible to actually accomplish those goals and be successful as long as you put in the effort.

Do you have any hobbies?  I love to go hiking, and this last summer I picked up a paddle board  which has now become my new favorite hobby.  I also like to travel to new places that I have never been to.

Any tips to newcomers for enduring their first Cheyenne winter? Buy the warmest coat you can find and put rocks in your pockets so that the wind has a harder time blowing you away!
