    On August 31st, National Matchmaker Day honors those romantics whose dauntless pursuit of perfect purchase for cupid’s arrow results in lasting love stories.

    Playing matchmaker requires a bit of social savvy, the ability to listen and timing. They know each friends’ habits (good and bad), passions, and hobbies.  When there is a spark, even when the prospective couple is painfully unaware, the matchmaker knows.

    While a matchmaker isn’t always successful, her (or his) heart is certainly in the right place!  It is all about love, after all.  Even the success stories can be quite entertaining.  From the awkward blind dates and the miscommunications to the complete mismatches, National Matchmaker Day raises a toast to the people who bring lovers together. — (HT: National Matchmaker Day)

    29 years ago this weekend, I first met my wife-to-be. Having sworn I would never go on a blind date, I was set up by my own dad. It was actually the second time we were supposed to meet because I used a lame excuse to weasel out of the first meeting. Between my parents and all the folks who attended my wife-to-be’s church, they succeeded in putting a match together. Many people did not give us much hope in a lasting marriage for a variety of reasons, but 4 months later we married and here we are 29 years later.

    I have always liked musicals and “Fiddler on the Roof” is one of my favorites. One of the songs includes the lines:

    Matchmaker, matchmaker,
    Make me a match,
    Find me a find,
    Catch me a catch
    Matchmaker, matchmaker
    Look through your book,
    And make me a perfect match.

    Making a match between two people is just as important as making a match between prospective buyers or sellers and a realtor. It takes time to perfect it to the point where all aspects work smoothly. However, it is not easy and can bring stress if you make the wrong match.

    So, my advice on this last day of August 2018 is to call me and see why people enjoy working with me. I am not a high-pressure salesperson and I see all of my clients as individuals, not as a commission check.
