Get your HOT DOGS!
RE/MAX Capitol Properties and Lynn Buys Houses are excited to team together to support, Adopt a Child for Christmas at this year’s Parade of Homes!
We will be serving hotdogs for $1 and pop/water for $.50 on:
- Friday, September 7 from 5 pm – 7 pm.
- Saturday, September 8 from 11 am – 1 pm.
- Sunday, September 9 11 am – 1 pm.
All proceeds will go directly to Adopt A Child for Christmas!
I asked Corey Loghry about the program.
How many kids are served?
Year 1: 350, Year 2: 600; Year 3: 920 We are anticipating over 1000 this year!
What larger program is it a part of?
No larger program, just a grass roots effort working with LCSD #1 social workers to identify families in need who would otherwise not have a Christmas.
How many years have you been doing it?
This will be the 4th year.
How many volunteers do you have/need?
We need volunteers to adopt all the children plus 6 managers. We will start the requests for volunteers to adopt children October 1st.
How much money does it take to reach the goal?
We ask that adopters spend around $75 per child. Collections will go toward purchasing gifts for volunteers who don’t follow thru. Last year that was about 32.
What else do people need to know?
Lists will go out to adopters mid November. Collection day will be December 9th at the Community House. Different than previous years, we won’t be delivering to schools, rather we rented the Community House for the 9th and 10th. We will collect on the 9th and the Social Workers will distribute to parents on the 10th. Those that adopt, wrap the gifts and the parents pick the gifts up in order to place the gifts under the tree from Santa. Last year we had 4 box trucks full of gifts we delivered to schools over a 4 day period!
WHY do you do it?
Every child should feel like they matter every day, but especially on Christmas. If we can come together as a community to do that, I think it helps kids realize how much they matter and how much people care about them. It’s a big, wonderful project for our local children!
Be sure to visit the Sunset Home at 6704 Etta during the 2018 Parade of Homes to check out the new construction homes with gorgeous staging by Lynn Buys Houses and to support a great local cause!
