CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
RE/MAX Capitol Properties was challenged by CENTURY 21 Bell Real Estate to donate to the Friday Food Bag Foundation here in Cheyenne.
With the school year just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about our students who will be back in the classroom in the coming weeks. The last thing a child should worry about is where to get their next meal. The Friday Food Bag Foundation works with educators and social workers from both LCSD #1 and LCSD #2 to deliver bags of nutritious, non-perishable food each Friday while school is in session to children who otherwise might not eat well, or at all, during the weekends.
The Friday Food Bag Foundation was founded in 2007 as a Holland & Hart Foundation project celebrating the firm’s 60th anniversary. Initial funds limited first deliveries to only 50 bags per week to the Title One Schools in the Cheyenne community. Word of the program spread through the community, and donations from individuals, firm clients, civic clubs, and churches began pouring in.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, combined with grants prepared by members of the program’s Board, the program has gone from delivering 50 bags per week to over 800 bags per week to the students in need of nutritious meals. This is a combination of financial and non-perishable food donations from members of our community.
The Foundation Board is made up of local volunteers, each with diverse backgrounds and knowledge but with one common goal – they want to make a difference in the lives of the children of our community.
The mission of the Friday Food Bag Foundation is to partner with the community to provide nutritious food to children who might not eat well – or at all – on the weekends.
The program would not operate at the capacity they do today if it weren’t for our local community members and businesses. Providing these necessities to the children in our community is a priority. Just another reason we are SOLD on our community!
At RE/MAX, we were more than happy to accept the challenge and our agents and staff were eager to participate. Together we were able to donate $1600! We are challenging the other Realtors in Cheyenne who have not already donated to Friday Food Bags to donate! As a community, we can make a difference in the lives of our students one meal at a time.
Every $5 donated can buy a child a meal.
