Many of us can only binge-watch shows and stay inside away from others for so long and with some creativity some solutions were created.
Thankful Thursdays are a prominent gathering during the winter and spring at ALF’s. Non-profits are selected for the fundraising events and they then work hard to make an evening of entertainment and fun winnings. With the limitations placed from the pandemic they decided to simply reinvent this fundraiser to be virtual. The structure is a bit different where they are touring Cheyenne both collecting donations from businesses and then providing collected funds to worthwhile causes. They created a Facebook Page if you would like to watch their videos and announcements. The other twist is funds collected from the efforts are going to Cheyenne Businesses who have been impacted by the pandemic closures.
Another way the community has rallied behind businesses and done more than just watch shows, movies or play video games, is Takeout Tuesdays. A volume of folks have committed to ordering out for Takeout Tuesday and even though businesses have opened up some to offer dining-in options, these folks are continuing their commitment to buy their meals from local restaurants on Tuesdays.
The Cheyenne Cruise Night has also been a fun way for folks to get out, while remaining socially distanced. Classic cars roar down Central Avenue from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Nick Dodgson, owner of Cheyenne Motorsports, began this effort to help allow individuals the opportunity to have fun together and admire the hot rides everyone has.
The Terry Bison Ranch has been hosting a number of fun events for families to enjoy too. Pull up in your car for drive-in movies, listen to concerts, and spend time with loved ones while getting out of the house. These activities have been planned by an independent promoter, Blue Pig Presents.Â
No matter what you decide to do, we simply encourage you all to take the right safety precautions to remain healthy. Take care of yourselves, families, and let’s all do our part to help to create a healthy community. Together we are Wy(HOME)ing Strong!
