Considering A Move To Cheyenne?

Wyoming Blog

At RE/MAX Capitol Properties, we proudly present Cheyenne, Wyoming, as your dream destination for residential, investment, and commercial properties. We believe it is a great place to work, live and raise your family.

Why Choose Cheyenne?

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a surge in interest in our beautiful area. People from across the country are drawn to Cheyenne’s open spaces and peaceful atmosphere. In our “Why Cheyenne” video series, our community members often mention that what they love most about Cheyenne is “the people.” We have an incredible, welcoming community here, and we want you to become a part of it.

Population Growth and Real Estate Insights

Cheyenne is on the brink of remarkable growth, with an expected annual population increase of around two percent. By 2030, we anticipate our population in Cheyenne and the surrounding areas will increase from approximately 75,000 to 135,000 residents. For those in the real estate and land development industries, this is a promising outlook. Prior to the pandemic we faced a housing shortage and since then our land developers and new construction builders have been working to improve the situation. The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is about to start a new housing study to learn where we are since the last report in 2019.

Additionally, the median age in Laramie County is rising, reflecting the aging “Baby Boomer” population and the demand for age-appropriate housing. Recent data from Governor Mark Gordon’s Economic Analysis Division (December 2021) reveals positive net migration from July 2020 to July 2021.

Thriving Job Opportunities

When it comes to employment, Cheyenne offers a diverse landscape of opportunities. Major employers include F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming Military (Guard), the State of Wyoming, the U.S. Government, Laramie County School District #1, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, and Union Pacific Railroad. Our city is also home to significant manufacturing and logistics businesses, such as Lowe’s Distribution Center, Sierra Trading Post, EchoStar Communications, Microsoft Data Center, and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.

Furthermore, Cheyenne’s economy is evolving beyond its traditional strengths in coal and mining, with a growing focus on wind power generation, oil and gas exploration, and tech industries. The proximity to Colorado’s booming tech economy contributes to substantial economic growth in our region. We are also getting closer to the GSBD Project at F.E. Warren AFB.

One of the biggest, most exciting developments happening within our community is the upcoming implementation of the Sentinel system. F.E. Warren AFB is one of three Air Force Bases across the country that houses ICBM missiles. The other two bases are Malmstrom AFB in Montana and Minot AFB in North Dakota. The current ICBM system, the Minuteman III, is to be replaced by Sentinel and we are set to be the first to undergo this replacement.
