The City of Cheyenne is one of 35 communities named a Champion City in the Bloomberg #MayorChallenge.
This means that Cheyenne was awarded $100,000 to pursue their proposal which was focused on bringing life to blighted buildings. They plan to do this with linking entrepreneurs with interested building owners and adapting the spaces accordingly. In the era of internet, there are an array of businesses being ran out of basements and garages. By linking these businesses in dire need of additional space with property owners who are interested in making improvements, blighted buildings will be no more. The concept is strong and that is why Cheyenne was one of the selected communities for this next phase out of over 500 competition submissions.
“This Award is a testament to hard work and innovative thinking.” Shared Mayor Marian Orr
Additionally, by getting more locations lively and active the chances of this synergy growing is extremely high and could transform neighborhoods. What makes this opportunity so exciting is that Cheyenne is competing against many nearby peers, including; Boulder, Fort Collins and even Denver.
Cheyenne is one of the smallest communities to make it to this phase and the idea is also one of the most innovative. Check out more information HERE.
