There is a lot of excitement in Cheyenne today for the CFD Finals Rodeo!
All week we’ve watched the competition get stronger and stronger! Today the top competitors will go for the big win! If you haven’t had a chance to visit Cheyenne during Cheyenne Frontier Days you are missing out on the biggest outdoor rodeo in the world. People come from all over to feel the excitement and enjoy a blast from the past. Rodeo is a rough sport, it takes grit for both the contestant and the animal.
My family loves to go to the finals rodeo. It’s the best of the best competing and there is an energy that is hard to explain. I don’t know too much about the details and rules for each event, but the announcers and videos give the audience a brief explanation. That’s good enough for me! Some of us will cheer for the cowboys and some will cheer for the animals. Some of us will spend our time laughing at the clown or mesmerized by the bull fighters. There is so much to see like young kids moving the calves and steers by horseback after the roping and wrestling events. The pickup men are amazing riders and ropers, they help the contestant off the backs of the bucking horses and move the horse or bull from the arena after each ride. Last week a bull chased the riders…..it was quite a sight to see!
If you weren’t able to make this year’s rodeo, don’t worry we’ll be here for you in 2018! Save the dates now! Visit Cheyenne Frontier Days for more information.
