Can you imagine in our fast paced world today that Cheyenne actually closes most businesses for Cheyenne Day?
When I moved here many years ago I didn’t believe it when the people I worked with told me our company would close at noon on Cheyenne Day. Well I was wrong! Not only did our company close, but so did nearly every other business in Cheyenne! This tradition continues each year on the Wednesday during Cheyenne Frontier Days! Here’s what you can expect on Cheyenne Day.
Start your morning at the Pancake Breakfast downtown at the Cheyenne Depot. Enjoy pancakes, ham, milk and coffee courtesy of the Kiwanis Club. This is a unique event to Cheyenne.
Next drive out to watch the Air Force Thunderbirds roaring through the sky! It is an amazing sight. You can feel and hear the power of the Thunderbird planes for miles around. There are many places throughout Cheyenne that you’ll be able to see the Thunderbirds, but Laramie County Community College is the main spot. Make sure you confirm all of the details prior to heading out.
Finally head over to the Cheyenne Frontier Days park. All Cheyenne residents get into the park on Wednesday for FREE. I think that is a terrific tradition the CFD Board of Directors continues to offer Cheyenne! Spend the afternoon and evening shopping at all of the vendors that come from around the country, ride the carnival rides and fill up on many food options.
