Sometimes it is crazy to think we just started a new year and it is 2019, but we are seeing BIG THINGS that are going to impact us in the future. One of these is the completion of the Carey Junior High School.
LCSD 1 Assistant Superintendent of Support Operations, Dave Bartlett answered questions about the construction of the new Carey Jr. High School with the Wyoming Tribune Eagle and shared its planned completion is August of 2020. Meaning those kiddos in 6th Grade currently will be venturing into a shiny and new Carey Junior High School.
The 135,000 Sq. Ft. building will house an improved gym space and football field, it will be built to accommodate the student population size. It will help to become a solution for the overcrowding in schools currently and with its close proximity to East High School, the School District shared how they can share resources between the campuses. This will be vital in preparation for the modernization of FE Warren happening in the coming years. The expected growth at the bases increases the volume of students in elementary schools and currently our elementary schools are to capacity. The Carey building can then be a temporary elementary for schools needing renovated. The District can move those students to the old building and remodel the existing elementary school to accommodate more students when necessary.
When there is a change to a place that many hold close to their heart and the memories that go along with it, it brings up mixed feelings. I asked my mom who attended Carey as a young teenager what she thought about the change and she said, I figure about time and kinda cool.
