Heather Jensen was kind enough to share with us her family’s experiences with summer reading and why they love the Summer Reading Celebration now.
When her family first moved to the greater Cheyenne area they went to the Library. There they learned about the Summer Reading Celebration. Her daughter was an avid reader, therefore took as many books home as she possibly could. Typically you would think this was around 10 books, but you will have to listen to the video and reveal the real number of books she took home. As for Heather’s son, he enjoyed the program more to keep track of his progress and being able to celebrate the various milestones. There are a variety of reasons to do summer reading, but all of them are good reasons!
All of the kids who complete the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a free book and adults who participate will receive a notebook, as well as an online subscription to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle. Plus, everyone gets rewarded with learning more through the stories read and so much more. In fact for adults, by tracking your progress you will earn tickets that can be redeemed for an entry into a number of prizes from noise-canceling headphones to a Yeti Cooler. The winners will be drawn in early September after the conclusion of the Summer Reading Challenge. Additionally, for children participating in the program, they will receive prizes throughout the summer that we helped to provide through sponsorship of the program. This will encourage the participants to reach important milestones while on summer break.
