If you own a home in Laramie County, there’s a valuable property tax exemption you don’t want to miss and the deadline is coming up fast.
I always aim to provide real value in the information I share, and this is one of those quick reminders that can actually put money back in your pocket. Whether you’ve lived here for years or you’re newer to the area, this is worth checking out.
What’s the Property Tax Exemption?
Laramie County is offering a property tax exemption for 2026, potentially saving homeowners up to 25% on the assessed value of their home, for tax purposes.
- Up to 25% off the assessed property value
- Applies to homes valued at or under $1 million
- That means a $1M home would be taxed on $750,000 instead
This isn’t automatic, you do need to apply. But it’s a simple process, and well worth the few minutes it takes to complete.
Who’s Eligible?
If you’ve lived in your home for at least 8 months during the last calendar year and it's your primary residence, you likely qualify.
To check your eligibility and submit your exemption request, visit the official Laramie County portal:

When’s the Deadline?
You need to apply by March 1, 2026.
Don’t wait, it's easy to forget as the spring season ramps up. Set aside a few minutes today to complete your application and lock in those savings.
A Quick Example
Let’s say your home is worth $400,000.
If you qualify and receive the exemption, you’ll only be taxed on $300,000 of that value. That’s real, ongoing savings year after year, and a great way to build and protect your wealth as a homeowner.
